Northglenn, CO – Upon learning that Denver-area Toys for Tots had received fewer toys than needed to help make Christmas better for area kids in need, Denver Escape Room is asking its patrons to help. Denver Escape Room customers who bring in a new, unwrapped toy worth $15 or more will receive a free t-shirt. For those who’d like to donate, Denver Escape Room will match up to $2,000 in cash donations to Toys for Tots.
“When we learned that Denver-area Toys for Tots had more than 100,000 requests for toys from area non-profits, and had only been able to distribute 10,000 toys, we wanted to help,” said Brian Lacertosa of Denver Escape Room.
For 69 years, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program has collected and distributed toys for disadvantaged children. The Denver-area program is based in Aurora and oversees seven Colorado counties.
In 2015, the program had received about 5,000 toys by Oct. 31. This year, it didn’t gather that many toys until December, and requests this year have increased.
Those who wish to donate directly to Toys for Tots can drop off toys at 3410 Brighton Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Donations can also be made online at aurora-co.toysfortots.org.
